One's feelings

Berthier sat in her room all by herself having stayed there ever since what had happened. She sat there her curled up on it as she looked on.

“I really blew it this time.” The Ice user commented with a bitter smile. Rubeus had been killed and their plot had been foiled. “Of all the people, the one I got was an enemy the whole time.” She said recalling the incident and sniffed.

She looked on as the girl had transformed as her clothes disappeared and was replaced with an outfit as she rejoined her friends becoming Sailor Mercury and one of her enemies.

“Their going to kill me, I can tell even though I haven’t seen any of them that they are going to do that, either kill me with their own hand or turn me into a mindless Droid.” She said as she knew that her failures meant that would punish her severely for it.

She looked on at the plaque on her desk and looked on at it before tossing it down.

“I guess this is the final game for me.” She said as she got out of the room ready to face whatever was in store for her.

Ami looked on at the plaque she had been given at the chess tournament. She sat on her bed as she stared at it and let out a sigh thinking back to all that had happened. Meeting Berthier at the tournament, the two’s match against one another, to her revealing who she really was and Ami revealing she was Sailor Mercury as well the other day.

Her heart was hurt with what had happened. Of how things had came to be and the two had fought one another back there. Part of her wished things had gone differently between them.

She knew that from this day forth, the two were enemies and would have to fight until one fell by the others’ hand.

“No use fretting about it, what’s happened has happened.” She said to herself in an attempt to convince herself and putting the plaque away turned off the light and went to bed.

As the hours passed and she tossed and turned in her bed, Ami gradually fell into a dreamless sleep.

As she did, ice and snow gathered in her room and a person appeared.

Like before, Berthier had appeared in her room whilst she was in bed. The white haired female looked on at her and walked over and stared down at her as she looked on.

She did not seem to be at peace like she had been before, there seemed to be a turmoil going on inside of her right now which was a contrast to when she had first came here.

Leaning down so that her face was to hers, she softly kissed Ami on the cheek for a brief second before pulling away.

“I’m sorry.” Berthier whispered to her fighting back the tears in her eyes before she disappeared seeing her for what she believed was the last time.

Ami began to stir and pulled herself up slowly awakening and realized that her cheek was moist, confusion was in her eyes as she brought a hand up to it.

“Berthier?”

The next day, Ami was with Serena the two having gone to see a movie that was playing. The others were busy with Mina taking Rini to see the Circus in town.

After watching the film, the two exited the theater.

“You okay?” Serena asked her.

“Yeah I’m fine. Why wouldn‘t I be?” Ami asked her and while Serena would never EVER get an A+ on her tests or reports could tell when something was bothering someone and right now something was bothering her friend.

“You’re acting different, Ami is something’s wrong please let-Huh?” She was cut off when something stuck to her face and she rubbed it and saw what it was.

“Snow? In June?” Serena said and even she knew that this was off. More snow began to drift down surprising her at what was happening.

“Well that’s ominous.” Ami said as the two looked on as they noticed the entire area around them was being covered in Ice. People were fleeing and tripping over themselves trying to escape it.

“Oh c’mon! Why can’t we have even one day without stuff like this happening?!” Serena whined loudly as she realized what this meant.

“No time to complain Serena, let’s put a stop to it.” Ami said and ran towards it and Serena joined her as they went.

As the area became clear of civilians, the two transformed becoming Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury and went into a large building where the Ice seemed to be coming from.

“Any sign?” Sailor Moon asked her and Ami activated her computer and the visor covered her face.

“I’m detecting a large source of magic deep within, this whole place must be nothing but ice and snow with all that’s happening.” She told her friend as they looked on. A part of her hoping that this wasn’t the doing of who she thought it was.

The two went on using her computer as a guide to find the source as they went through the building and continued on.

“Right here,” Ami said as they stopped at a door. “This is the strongest source and whatever’s responsible for this is right behind this door.”

“Well let’s get it over with then!” Serena said and kicked the door down and the two barged in.

The two ran into the room and looked on as the area was like a frozen tundra before them. They watched on and saw someone in the room with them standing in the middle of it and she was channeling the ice and snow.

“Berthier!” Sailor Mercury called out and she opened her eyes and looked on.

“So…you came.” Berthier said as she looked on at Ami who stood there and watched on. “I shouldn’t be surprised that you did.”

“Why are you doing this?!” Mercury shouted at her. “You’re going to destroy this entire place if you don’t stop!”

“Why should I care? It’s not like I got anything left.” Berthier said to her in a solemn tone surprising Ami and Serena.

“Stop it before In The Name of The Moon I will Punish you!” Sailor Moon shouted at her. “What are you trying to do, create a new ice age?” She called out rubbing her shoulders with her hands but was ignored by her as she and Ami stared at one another.

“Stop this Berthier, don’t make me hurt you.” Sailor Mercury said to her as they looked at one another their eyes locking with each others.

“I have no choice.” Berthier told her a bitter tone in her

“You always have a choice,” The blue haired girl said to her.

“Maybe so, but this is the only one I have.” Berthier told her. “I’m going to cover this entire radius with nothing but Ice, sacrificing my body and life to do so as it’ll require everything I have to do so.”

“But that will…”

“Kill me, yes. I was given this order to do so as it’s a suicide mission they told me to do. Either die by their hands or die like this.” Berthier said to them. She had been ordered to do so for her failures as the task she had been given would end with her no longer alive.

“I won’t let you.” Ami vowed to her.

“Then stop me if you can.”

“This isn’t right.” Sailor Moon said as she looked on at it seeing what was going on. “You shouldn’t have to be doing this.” She said as she didn’t want her friend fighting.

“Life isn’t fair, in another lifetime perhaps we would’ve been friends but not in this lifetime I’m afraid.” Berthier said as she channeled her power and more and more snow and ice entered the room

“Ami, we can’t just stand here and let her do what she‘s doing.” Serena told her.

“I know…”

“If we don’t stop her she’ll destroy over half the city.” Serena said as they had to do something, they couldn’t just let Berthier do what she was doing.

“But.” Ami said to her and Sailor Moon looked on at her with sympathy in her eyes. She may have been her friend once, but now, she had to be stopped.

“No matter what happens, I’m going to die.” Berthier said to them as she charged her power and the area grew even colder as more and more ice appeared. “You can stop me, go ahead and do so. I couldn‘t even if I wanted too.” She told her as she had no defenses or monsters to defend her, she was helpless. “After all, why should a person care what happens to an unwanted Pawn you can throw away?” She said with a bitter smile on her face. “After all, we all eventually run out of use.” She said with a laugh which was one of the saddest noises ever been ehard. “The people that we thought cared about us no longer want anything to do with us when we do, not even if they are family or loved ones, they came to care about you when it‘s all just a lie!”

“That’s not true.” Ami quietly responded to her. “I don’t feel that way about you.”

A creaking sound was heard as the building was beginning to strain under pressure as it couldn’t take much more at this rate. They had to much their choice now before they and this entire area would be destroyed

“Your choice, either stop me from what I’m doing or I’ll turn this entire area into nothing but a frozen wasteland.” Berthier said to them.

Sailor Moon went to attack but Mercury stopped her and shook her head. Serena seeing the look in her eyes nodded as this was something Ami had to do herself.

“Forgive me…” Ami said to her and raised her hands and water gathered in it the shape of a sphere and threw it at Berthier who stood there as it spiraled towards her.

Berthier looked on as the attack came at her but due to focusing her power and magic she couldn’t move from the spot.

It was unlikely even if she could that she’d moved anyway as she had accepted this to happen.

The blow hit Berthier and she plummeted down below, falling from the height down to the ground and laid there on the hard ice very still not moving as she looked up.

“Berthier!” Ami shouted as she slid down the snow and joined her. “Hang on, everything’s going to be okay.” She told her taking her hand. “I’m sorry that this happened.”

“I…am too.” Berthier weakly responded to her as a tear fell down her face to the floor as the snow and ice around them began to melt away. “Looks like its Checkmate for me.” She said as she could tell due to the energy she used that her body was giving out. She didn’t have much longer.

“Don’t say that.” Mercury told her. “You’re going to be fine, just wait a little bit.” She told Berthier.

“I’m happy I got to meet you one last time Ami,” Berthier said with a smile as she looked on up at her sniffling eyes. Her hand clutched in Sailor Mercury’s own was losing strength. “You were my best friend, being with you made me truly happy you know that?” She told her truthfully as that was no lie. “Please don’t ever forget about me.”

“We haven’t gotten to have our rematch yet remember? You can’t die!” Ami begged her

“I remember…but it looks like we won’t be able to have it. I having a feeling that you would’ve won it if we did.” Berthier said and weakly coughed as her breathes come harder for her.

“Berthier?!”

“Goodbye,” Berthier said to Ami and shut her eyes for the last time as her hand went limp and fell to the ground.

Ami turned her head away pain in her eyes at what had happened. She began to cry as her eyes became covered with tears that dripped down her face and to the floor as she openly cried over what had happened

“I can’t let this happen.” Sailor Moon said clutching her hands up from above as she couldn’t bear to standby and watch Ami suffer like this. Reaching in she pulled out the Silver Crystal. “I know that she’s an enemy of ours, but please for Ami’s sake, heal her.” Serena pleaded it begging for it to do so.

Nothing happened for a moment and she lowered her head tears of her own starting to form.

But a glow interrupted her and she looked and saw it glowing a pink color and it hovered out of her hands and began to float over to where Berthier was at.

The glow of the gem began to brighten and Berthier’s figure was lifted up off the ground before Sailor Mercury and hovered underneath it

The Silver Crystal glowed brightly and Berthier was engulfed in it as the shimmering light engulfed her hovering body basking her in a warm glow.

The two Sailor Scouts looked on at what was happening as Berthier‘s body hanged there in the air. The glow from The Silver Crystal increased causing them to shield their eyes from its brightness and what it was doing to Berthier.

Her one piece outfit as well as her boots and gloves disappeared from her body and it was replaced with normal clothes, dressed in a blouse and pants with a pair of shoes. The symbol of the Black Moon Clan on her forehead began to fade away on her head before disappearing completely as she was laid gently on the floor.

Berthier slowly opened her blue eyes as the light faded away from her and The Silver Crystal went back to Sailor Moon.

“I’m alive?” She said in confusion that she was as she had expected to die after what had happened. She was alive, she looked and saw her reflection and saw the marking no longer on her forehead. She brought her hand up and touched her face feeling her skin against her fingers as she really was alive.

“I’m human.” She noted as The Silver Crystal had purified her, turning her into a human girl.

“You’re okay now.” Ami said and wrapped her arms around her embracing her warmly which Berthier returned hugging her back. “Everything’s going to be ok now I promise.” She said as the two sat there in each other’s arms

Above them, Serena wiped away tears of her own a smile on her face at what she witnessed.
